What we do

Five services that hand off to each other

Education, mentorship, placement, incubation and organisational training. Each one is useful alone; together they form a continuous path from first curiosity to funded company or first engineering job.

Service 01

Reimagined Technical Education

Self-paced coursework, small-group labs and live speaker sessions that take a curious beginner to job-ready practitioner without asking them to quit their life.

Education at BTMP is built around evidence rather than lecture hours. Every module ends in something a mentee can show: a deployed service, a soldered board, a threat model, a trained classifier. Mentors grade against the same rubric hiring managers use, so feedback maps directly onto the interview loop that comes later.

  • Six learning tracks: software, hardware, robotics, AI/ML, cybersecurity and XR
  • Cohorts capped at 14 so no one disappears in a chat window
  • Portfolio-graded projects reviewed by working engineers
  • Stipends and hardware loans that remove the WiFi-and-laptop barrier

One-to-One Mentorship Matching

A structured match between a mentee and an experienced technologist, with a shared development plan, scheduled sessions and measurable checkpoints.

Mentorship fails when it is left informal. BTMP treats the relationship as a project with a charter, a cadence and an exit condition. Mentors receive training on feedback, sponsorship and boundaries before their first session; mentees arrive with goals written down. The programme team monitors engagement and intervenes early when a pair stalls.

  • Matching on discipline, career stage, timezone and communication style
  • A written development plan both people sign in week one
  • Fortnightly sessions with agendas, notes and action items
  • Quarterly reviews that either renew, re-match or graduate the pair

Service 03

Pipelines — Career Placement

Career development for people entering the workforce and for mid-career professionals pivoting into technology, ending in real introductions to hiring partners.

Pipelines exists because a certificate is not a job. We work backwards from open requisitions at partner companies, identify the eight to ten competencies each one actually screens for, and close those gaps deliberately. Mentees rehearse the full loop with engineers who run it for a living, then meet hiring managers as referred candidates rather than cold applicants.

  • Role mapping against verified skills, not job titles
  • Interview drills: systems design, live coding, behavioural, take-home review
  • Salary benchmarking and negotiation coaching before the offer lands
  • Warm introductions to partner engineering teams, not a job board

Service 04

Shipyards — Startup Incubation

A five-phase programme that carries founders from the first idea through incorporation, product, funding and post-market growth.

Shipyards is designed for the founder who has the technical insight but not the institutional map. Each phase has entry criteria, a deliverable set and an honest exit conversation. We would rather tell a founder in Inceptor that the market is not there than let them spend two years finding out the expensive way.

  • Pioneer, Inceptor, Incubator, Accelerator and Post Modern Mentorship phases
  • Legal, financial and IP clinics with partner firms
  • Investor-readiness reviews before you ever open a data room
  • Continued advisory after launch, when most support disappears

Organisational Mentor Training

Training for companies that want to increase diverse impact — assessing the cultural landscape, building a roadmap and delivering workshops that fit the team you actually have.

To maintain leadership in technology, companies need to increase diverse impact: broader audience understanding, greater product identifiability, accessibility, a sharper eye for market gaps and fewer cultural pitfalls. Our training teaches the skills that raise efficiency, communication and satisfaction — and we measure whether it worked.

  • Culture and process audit before any workshop is scheduled
  • Manager training on sponsorship, feedback and promotion equity
  • Mentor certification so your staff can host BTMP mentees
  • Six-month measurement against retention and progression data
